Body-Worn Camera Policy
Activation Requirement: The policy may require officers to activate their body cameras during all enforcement-related interactions with the public. This includes routine patrol duties, responses to calls for service, and investigative encounters.
Law Enforcement Activities: Body cameras are often required to be activated during activities such as traffic stops, arrests, searches, detentions, interviews, and use-of-force incidents.
Crisis and Critical Incidents: The policy may mandate the use of body cameras during crisis situations, such as incidents involving individuals with weapons, potential threats to officer safety, or high-risk encounters.
Discretionary Activation: Officers may be given the discretion to activate their body cameras in other situations that are not specifically mandated but may still benefit from recording, such as community interactions or non-enforcement encounters.
Privacy Considerations: The policy should address privacy concerns and specify circumstances where the body cameras should not be activated, such as in sensitive locations like hospitals, shelters, or private residences, or during conversations with victims of certain crimes.
Data Retention and Storage: The policy will typically outline the procedures for storing, managing, and retaining recorded data, including compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
It's important to note that it is required that all officers download and install Medal Recording Software to clip, and record any incidents that may be needed for proof in a report, Not doing so can lead to severe warnings/punishments.
If your hardware does not support medal, please open a ticket.
